THE DE STIJL MAGAZINE: PICTURES

The De Stjil movement was formally created with the publication of the De Stjil magazine in 1917. Theo van Doesburg and the other founders of the movement used this publication to spread their ideas. Van Doesburg, who was inevitably the largest contributor to the magazine, often published Dadist poetry in the magazine in the 1920s. In 1924, van Doesburg published Toward a Plastic Architecture, a piece that concretely verbalized the architectural positions and ideas that the movement had been festering since 1917. Rietveld himself made several contributions to the magazine.
